It was originally invented in Canada, where the severe climate forced people to search for energy-saving solutions and became further popular in the Great Britain, from where it reached Poland.

Due to air - tightness technology specifications, Pentagram Architects designed the shopping center in Glogow. The main goal was to eliminate uncontrolled air movement (including draughts) from the inside of building. It was achieved by designing division of building into several zones separated by air locks.

The design work included an enormous amount of detailed drawings showing the structure of each dividing wall, sealing of all joints, mechanical and plumbing details etc. Since the construction works may has been accepted only after a positive result of air - tightness test, the key elements in every project considering such technology, is a proper site supervision.

The building designed by Pentagram Architects was tested by BSRIA, the leading independent UK laboratory for the testing, certification and performance verification of building services products. The result of the test was 20% better then required and, as we have been informed by Mr Nigel Potter who conducted the test, so far the best in Europe, excluding the Great Britain.

We have been informed that according to the new building code in the UK, the air-tightness technology will be required for all public buildings.
